Promotion per product Manual
The most targeted promotion: a precise item selection, a customer group (or all), a 1 to 90% percentage and a bounded period.
Overview
The Promotion per product screen creates a discount applicable to a precise item selection, for a customer group (or for all), during a given period. It is the most targeted form of promotion: you designate item by item what is promoted.
| Characteristic | Value |
|---|---|
| Scope | Document line — each selected item. |
| Customer target | One customer group, or all customers if no group is chosen. |
| Percentage | From 1 to 90%. |
| Duration | Bounded by a start and an end date, included. |
The general rules — best promotion, no accumulation, ex-works floor — are described in Sales promotions. This page only covers the screen.

The promotion list
The screen's home page lists existing promotions, with their period and rate.
| Promotion⇅ | Beginning Date⇅ | Ending date⇅ | Percentage⇅ | Group⇅ | Domain⇅ | Detail⇅ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Back to school — South | 01/09/2026 | 30/09/2026 | 15.00% | Southern network | General | |
| Oil clearance | 10/08/2026 | 31/08/2026 | 20.00% | --- | General | |
| Organic range launch | 01/10/2026 | 31/12/2026 | 10.00% | Mass retail | General |
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Promotion | Label entered at creation. It is the only readable marker: take care of it. |
| Beginning / Ending date | Validity bounds, included. |
| Percentage | Discount rate applied to the promotion's items. |
| Group | Targeted customer group. “---” means all customers. |
| Domain | Owning domain (multi-domain companies). |
| Detail | Opens the promotion in view / edit mode. |
The toolbar buttons are those of every reference screen: New, Search and Delete (on the selection).
Creating a promotion
The New button opens the creation form. Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory.
| Field | Entry rule |
|---|---|
| Domain | Mandatory only if the company is multi-domain with category or customer separation. Changing it reloads the item list and the groups. |
| Label | Mandatory. In an Arabic-speaking company an Arabic label is also required. |
| Beginning Date | Mandatory. Cannot be earlier than today. |
| Ending date | Mandatory. Must cover the intended period, bounds included. |
| Percentage | Mandatory, between 1 and 90. An out-of-range value is rejected on save. |
| Group | Optional. Left empty, the promotion applies to all customers. |
| Article | Mandatory. Multiple selection through the pick list (see next section). |
| Description | Optional. Useful to record the commercial decision behind the promotion. |
The 90% upper bound is not decorative: it prevents entering a discount that would empty the price of its meaning. For a free item, use free articles.
Selecting the items
The Article field is a pick list: available items on the left, promoted items on the right. Both columns have a search filter.
300145 — USB-C CABLE 2M
720011 — NOTEBOOK 96 PAGES
512031 — OLIVE OIL 5L
640220 — HOUSEHOLD SOAP
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| / | Moves the selected items from one column to the other. |
| / | Moves the whole column. |
| Filter | “Contains” search on the label, available on both columns. |
If you need to move more than about twenty items, a promotion per category is probably a better fit — and far easier to maintain: see Promotion per category.
Changing the domain after building the selection reloads the list: pick the domain first.
Editing and deleting
A row's Detail button reopens the promotion. The Delete button acts on the selection, after confirmation.
| Operation | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Edit | All fields remain editable, including the item selection and the percentage. The change takes effect immediately on new documents. |
| Start date | If the promotion has already started, the start date can no longer be changed. |
| Delete | Logical deletion after confirmation. The promotion disappears from the list and stops being applied. |
Editing or deleting a promotion does not recompute documents already issued. A quote or an invoice issued under the old rate keeps its price: that is the expected behaviour of a commercial document.
To stop a running campaign without touching history, prefer moving the end date to yesterday rather than deleting the promotion: you keep the trace of what was granted.
Business rules
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| One promotion kept per item | If the item is in several valid promotions, only the strongest applies — never a sum. |
| Competition with the category | An item promotion does not beat a category promotion: the highest percentage wins, whatever the source. |
| Floor | The price never falls below the ex-works price; the displayed percentage is then recomputed. |
| No group = all | A group left empty means all customers; a group with no member targets nobody. |
| Mobile reach | The promotion flows down into Swifto Seller and Swifto CRM Mobile after synchronisation. |
The engine's details (two queries per document, rounding by currency, behaviour on anomaly) are documented in Sales promotions.
FAQ & Tips
My promotion does not show on the quote?
Check that the customer belongs to the target group, that the item really moved to the right-hand column, and that today's date is within the period.
I cannot enter 95%?
The percentage is capped at 90%. Beyond that, use a free-article rule rather than a discount.
The item list went empty?
You probably changed the domain: the change reloads the available items. Redo the selection.
Can I promote an item already promoted elsewhere?
Yes, safely: the engine automatically keeps the most favourable rate for the customer.
Tip. Name the promotion with its target and period (“Back to school — South — Sept. 2026”). At year end, the promotion list becomes a readable history of your sales campaigns.
