Manual Categories & groups
Two classification levels complete the customer record: the category (mandatory, used for filtering and pricing) and the group (cross-cutting grouping for bulk actions), enriched with classifications and a link to a parent billing customer.
Overview
To make the most of your customer file (filters, pricing, campaigns, dashboards), Swifto offers several classification axes. The category is carried by each customer and is mandatory; the group freely groups customers for collective operations; classifications and the billing customer refine the structure.
Business goal
- Classify every customer (Wholesaler, Retail, Reseller…)
- Serve as a filter and pricing criterion
- Group customers for promotions, campaigns, assignment
- Link subsidiaries to a parent company
Target audience
- Sales reps / Order admin — segment their portfolio
- Marketing — target promotions and campaigns
- Management — analyze by segment / classification

Access and navigation
Left-hand side menu: Customers → Customer categories or Customer groups.
Customer categories
The category is a mandatory classification of each customer (Wholesaler, Retail, South Reseller…). It serves as a filter in the list and as a pricing criterion (price by category).
| Label⇅ | Description | Nb customers⇅ | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wholesaler | Bulk purchase, tiered pricing | 42 | ||
| South Reseller | Resellers, south zone | 18 | ||
| Retail | End retail customers | 67 |
Category fields
| Field | Description | Mandatory |
|---|---|---|
| Label | Category name (unique within the company). | Yes |
| Description | Free-form note on the category's use. | — |
On-the-fly creation
A category (or an internal classification) can be created without leaving the customer record: next to the Category dropdown, click the button, enter the label and confirm — the new category is immediately selected.
New category
Label uniqueness — Swifto rejects a category whose label already exists in the company, to avoid duplicates.
Customer groups
The group is a cross-cutting grouping of customers (by label, optionally by category, governorate or sales reps). Unlike the category, a customer can belong to several group logics depending on your operations.
| Label⇅ | Governorate⇅ | Nb customers⇅ | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sfax key accounts | Sfax | 9 | ||
| Ramadan 2026 campaign | — | 54 |
Group fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Label | Group name (e.g. "Sfax key accounts"). |
| Category / Governorate | Optional grouping criteria. |
| Sales reps | Sales reps attached to the group (assignment). |
| Member customers | List of customers making up the group. |
Bulk actions
The group serves as a target for collective operations, without having to select each customer one by one:
Promotions
Apply a discount / special price to an entire group.
Campaigns
Target an emailing / marketing campaign at the group.
Assignment
Assign a sales rep / zone to all members.
Classifications & billing customer
Beyond the category, the customer record carries classifications and can be linked to a parent billing customer:
| Concept | Description |
|---|---|
| General classification | Shared scale (e.g. Key account, SME, Individual). |
| Internal classification | Company-specific scale, can be created on the fly. |
| Billing customer (parent) | Links a customer to a central billing account (subsidiary → parent company). |
Categories and classifications are created without leaving the customer record (the button next to the dropdown), which avoids back-and-forth data entry.

Business rules
Mandatory category — every customer must carry a category; it governs filters and pricing.
Unique labels — categories and classifications have a label that is unique per company (controlled on-the-fly creation).
Group = cross-cutting — a customer can take part in several operations; the group does not replace the category, it complements it.
Multi-tenant isolation — categories, groups and classifications are specific to each company (access controlled by identifier, anti-IDOR).

FAQ & Tips
Category or group: which to choose?
The category is unique and mandatory (permanent classification + pricing). The group is free-form and cross-cutting (one-off operation: promo, campaign).
"Label already used" on creation?
A category / classification with the same label already exists. Reuse the existing one instead of creating another.
Tip — define your axes first
Set up your categories and classifications before importing your customers: segmentation and pricing will be consistent from the start.
